avi to DV

I am looking for a way to convert files to DV format on a PC without the use of extra hardware. Any suggestions?

Grab a DV codec. You should be able to find one of these, and there may be others.

* Adaptec DV Codec
* Canopus DV Dodec
* MainConcept DV Codec
* Panasonic DV Codec
* Sony DV Codec

I recommend the MainConcept, but for encode, it puts a logo on your video unless you buy it for $50. Canopus uses a special 4CC that isn't compatible with the others. I believe I read that the Panasonic is the same core as the Microsoft one.

For a free solution you can use VirtualDub to open the AVI and encode, and the Panasonic DV codec (available from the "Links" sticky thread).
