I just got an Optowrite DVD+-RW and downloaded DVDXCopy Express, It will read the DVD just fine but then says insert Blank DVD and when I put the disc in nothing happens, I've tried the DVD+R that came with the drive and a Memorex DVD-R, the movie I'm trying to backup is Enemy at the gates, when I take it out of the drive and put in the new blank disc My Computer still says that Enemy at the gates is in the drive, any ideas?

Where this program was downloaded from?
We'll need an answer the next time u'll log on otherwise a r6 strike should be in order.

I guess I wasn't clear enough because I know what I was doing wasn't illegal.

1) I bought an Optowrite DVD+-RW drive
2) I installed it into my computer
3) I downloaded the trial version of DVDXCopy Express (3 full burn limit, definately not reached)
4) I tried to backup my own copy of Enemy at the Gates that I purchased(I wanted to see how the software handled DVD 9 to DVD 5 backups)
5) The software would read through the disc and then say Insert Blank DVD and when i put it in, it would just sit there and the start button would not turn green again (as the help file says it should)
6) My Computer shows that the Enemy at the Gates cd is still in the drive after it's been replaced by a blank disc and allows me to actually browse the cd while its not in there but I can't copy any files off it.

Now that its been clarified. Any suggestions? Thanks.

dvd x copy xpress doesn't actually shrink your disc to a dvd5, it rather collects information about the structure and compressability of your movie and proceeds expecting the original disk to be inside the drive. That leads me to assume that u actually need a second dvd-rom drive to access the movie during burning process.

U have removed the disc and thus it can find it and proceede.

I tried it both ways, reading the dvd from the burner as well as from another dvd drive to the burner.

I downloaded the program and fed it wit a dvd of mine. He immediately recognised a dvd-rw I had in my burner and started processing the dvd. After 5 minuted he finished processing and tried to burn the disk where he reported a 'cannot write' message and aborted.

I informed 321 studios about it and I ve been waiting for their reply.

Until then I can confirm that upon insertion of the disc the program started and processed the structure as it should.

I had a very simular problem last night I tough just purchased a new DVD burner a Lite-on. I tried to backup XXX the reading part went well then I inserted the blank DVD+r media into the same drive.(I only have one DVD drive. When i inserted the media after about 2% writing, a window poped up and said "writing error" I hit OK and then it keeped writing. It was fine up to 99% then said cancelling writing and poped out the disk. it went back to step 2 insert blank media. so I put in another disk, but it wouldn't detect it the start button never turned green. then I turned it off and went to bed.

Might I ask you a few more questions?

1. Which version of windows are you running?

2. Which version of DVD X Copy are you using?

3. Do you have any of the following software on your computer?
PC Friendly
Roxio Easy CD Creator
Adaptec
Instant Messenger of any type signed on
Windows Update not updated?

4. Are your firmware and drivers updated for your burner and your player?

5. What kind of burner do you have?

If it is any type of HP burner you need to go into your control panel and go to add/remove programs then remove anything having to do with HP (unless it is a printer) then reinstall the drivers that came with DVD X Copy

6. Do you use KaZaA?

The following programs can cause problems while using our software:

InterActual Player and PC Friendly - These packages can cause many problems including read errors, blocky video on completed copy, SCSI command errors, and DVDXCopy lockups. Please remove in the Add/Remove Programs utility in your Control Panel. Pinnacle Instant CD/DVD also interferes. DirectCD or Drag to Disc (portion of EasyCDCreator), InCD, B's Clip, HP or Veritas DLA - Packet writing software. These programs load special "Filter Drivers" when windows starts that can try and talk to your burner during the copy process. Disabling will not resolve all issues, please completely uninstall via the Add/Remove Programs utility in your Control Panel. To remove DirectCD or Drag to Disc, please use the Change command for EasyCD Creator in your Add/Remove Programs utility in Control Panel. Continue until you are given the option to "Modify", then you should be presented a list of components. Please choose "Not Available" for the DirectCD and/or Drag to Disc components.

Spyware - some programs can install other software that can be damaging to your Operating System. Please scan for these programs with a Spyware utility. We recommend Ad-Aware, available freely at Lavasoft.de or Lavasoft.nu

If you perform any of these changes, please make sure to reboot your computer before copying.

After uninstalling any of these programs, please download FORCE ASPI from this link (we advise downloading to the desktop so that you can find it):

ftp://ftp.321studios.com/ASPI/ForceASPI.exe

After downloading the file, double click to install it. After installing the ForceASPI file, then double click on the pink icon that it puts on your desktop, and follow the directions.

It should make you restart if installed correctly.

as u can read almost everything can interfere with the program.

I just did a compleate reformat of my hard drive (the damn thing is junk though bad sectors all over the place) anyway I wounder if I picked up some spyware, when I was trying to find the drivers I lost for my soundcard and what not. I'll have to scan it when i get home.
