Im backing up Akira which is two hours, the menu is 500 odd mb, and when running in powerdvd with details on the menu stays on 7.2mbps, so i wanna compress that down a bit so i can get a higher bit rate for the movie.
So i use Numenu4u, is does its thing ,gets to the point where it starts muxing the files with vobedit, then alittle bit into it it stops and give me this error...

Runtime Error 58
File Already Exists

Then it close's its self, it does'nt finsh.

Suddenly last night I now get the same error whenever I use the "IfoUpdate & Image Creation" panel in NuMenu4U. The image creation previously worked well for me, but recently I must have done something to mess it up.
After filling in all the correct folders in the UI and I click on the "Compile" button now, I get a:

"Run-Time error '58': File already exists".

and the entire program crashes a few seconds later!
It never tells me _what_ file already exists...
That sure would help a lot

I believe I messed something up because the last time I thought IfoUpdate panel (called through NuMenu4U) had finished, I did not notice that NuMenu4U had popped up a small window, hidden under my other windows...

It was a Region Code window requesting that I select the region of my player. When I noticed that NuMenu4U was not responding, I killed it with the Task Manager, not realizing that it was awaiting my response in the hidden window. Later I found the Region Code
window, but I was too late...!

I tried to "rollback" the effects of the IfoUpdate:
1. I moved the Scenarist .vob files back to the 0\VIDEO_TS folder.
2. I restored a backup copy of the VIDEO_TS folder
3. I regenerated the 0\VIDEO_TS folder files in Scenarist
4. I ran IfoUpdate again through NuMenu4U, and NuMenu4U
still crashes with: "Run-Time error '58': File already exists".

The NuMenu4U.log file is included below:
3/14/2004 7:46:00 AM
3/14/2004 7:46:00 AM Defaultsettings
3/14/2004 7:46:02 AM vts_tree_parent= Q:\VIDEO_TS

3/14/2004 7:46:02 AM vts_tree_child_oversize= VTS_01_0.VOB - 72MBchk1
3/14/2004 7:46:02 AM 2
3/14/2004 7:46:02 AM docce= 1.0.1.5
3/14/2004 7:46:02 AM avisynth= 2.5.4.0
3/14/2004 7:48:10 AM ifoupdate> parent= H:\OFAH\0\VIDEO_TS
3/14/2004 7:48:10 AM ifoupdate> child= VTS_01_0.IFO
3/14/2004 7:48:10 AM ifoupdate> child= VTS_02_0.IFO
3/14/2004 8:00:39 AM nuke backup :H:\Temp\bak\BACKUP_IFOS_FOLDER
3/14/2004 8:00:39 AM ifoupdate started

In the progress window, NuMenu4U displays only that it has
copied the Scenarist .vob files, then the error pops up.

I reinstalled NuMenu4U, cleared out all my Windows temp folders and caches, and even deleted the following INI files to see if that would help (most of these are in the Windows directory):

IfoUpdate.ini, NuMenu4Ufilecopy.ini, numenuscan.ini, ifoupdate_file_list.ini

I am using IfoUpdate v0.78 and NuMenu4U v1.0.2

Nothing seems to help.
Have I messed up some "flag" file or some registry setting?
Any suggestions? I am most frustrated.

the region setting window that popped up is part of ifoupdate nothing to do with numenu4u. If you have removed all ini files, recreated folders and reassembled the original scenarist output folder then there should be no problems.

So you are saying let's remove all folders and .ini files from the scenarist made folders except the one contains video_ts and the run-time error 58 will not occure?
Basically, when the error occures the vob files already copied into the appropriate dir. It looks like only the get vts setting is missing. I've run infoedit and corrected vts's and the movie seems to run perfectly.

Please answer me! I have the same problem.

Thanks for your help.

I switched back to using IfoEdit v0.95 (previously I had been
using IfoEdit v0.96) in NuMenu4U, reauthored only the menus
with NuMenu4U, and the problem seems to have gone away...

Well, I'm using IFOUpdate 0.78. I've deleted all *ini file (scenarist and IFOUpdate, as well) however the problem still persisted. Next I've deleted the log file of NuMenu4U and moved the VIDEO_TS files to different dirrectory. It worked. After I reathored the same video into the same dir where the error occured and did not touch the ini or log files created so far and run again the IFOUpdate from NuMenu4U. I've repeated three times but no error message came out.
So I'm not sure that ini of log files caused the problem. ?????

Yeah, I noticed the same behavior.
I moved Scenarist .vob files back to ...0\VIDEO_TS folder,
deleted remaining VIDEO_TS files, reauthored menu with NuMenu4U
into another folder, and then copied new menu files back to
VIDEO_TS. IfoUpdate UI through NuMenu4U then worked correctly.
It's hard to pinpoint _why_ the error happens, but at least now we
have a workaround.
