I'm new to CCE and have been looking around for a basic how-to on taking an avi, such as a Divx source that is at a particular frame size and rate, and convert it to the proper frame size and rate for SVCD and process with CCE to create a SVCD-fully compliant mpeg file.

Are there any good examples or guides to show this in detail, step by step?

how about this: http://www.doom9.org/mpg/dvd2svcd-avi.htm
you should've found that after approximately one minute of searching on my sites.. on the guides page there's a section that has divx -> svcd in the subtitle.

I looked at your example, but didn't see much there, in detail, showing how to use CCE to make good SVCDs.

I believe if you follow any of the guides for DVD encoding with CCE, you should get good results for SVCD. Just set the resolution for 480x480, the standard SVCD resolution. Some DVD players let you get away with a higher resolution for SVCD though. Use a program like DVDPatcher or ReStream to change the header of the MPEG2 file to SVCD. This way the DVD player will see it as an SVCD and play it as one.

I looked at your example, but didn't see much there, in detail, showing how to use CCE to make good SVCDs.I think it's about time to see an eye doctor then. The guide I linked to is an AVI -> SVCD Guide using DVD2SVCD, and DVD2SVCD uses either CCE or TMPG to encode. You'll never have to do anything with CCE itself, dvd2svcd does that all automatically for you (but of course you'd already know that if you had bothered to look a little harder)

I appreciate your attitude towards the way I read your documentation. However, what I asked for, was "detailed information" on the "use of CCE" to create SVCDs as well as "VCDs".
However, I do appreciate your documentation and will use it until I find another way, unless it is determined that this is the best and fastest way possible. Thanx.

it's definitely the fastest way to use CCE. Creating AviSynth scripts, re-encode audio, muxing, splitting, creating an image (you can even use dvd2svcd to burn the output directly).. dvd2svcd takes care of that all and that's the reason why it's by far the most popular program to create SVCDs. If you care for the theory of the perhaps best way (and I believe it has been integrated into dvd2svcd), read this: http://forum.doom9.org/showthread.php?s=&threadid=57518 .. it involves the use of dvd2svcd as well.

and by the way, your original question was I'm new to CCE and have been looking around for a basic how-to on taking an avi... and dvd2svcd can also create VCDs (and soon DVD-Rs)... ;)

I'm not sure if this is really what you're looking for, but it might help you out on your search for more knowledge.

It's an avi to svcd tutorial using CCE. It doesn't have any screen shots though.
