Hi,
Just a quick query....
I have been trying to create menus for my titles in dvdlab, but when I make the menu, and link all links to relevent movie/sub menu etc, and then compile and burn to dvd-r. The resultant DVD does not play on any standalone player.

However, if i use the same assets, and make a film WITHOUT the menu, and link all parts together in connections so that after one part finishes the next part plays, all works perfectly fine on all players....
Can anyone please advise that when I create a menu and then compile the resultant film does not play on any player, but a simple film with no menu works fine?
Cheers,

There are a lot of audio related problems with menus in DVD Lab.
Most are due to the fact that it lets you compile with MIXED audio formats.
As all the menus go in VTS_01_0.VOB they have use the SAME audio properties. Try a quick compile with the same piece of audio in each menu and burn to a CDRW for a test.

Have you read through the posts on DVD Labs Forum ?

There are too many unknowns in your 1st post.
Still menus?
Motion menus ?
- all still or mixed?
which software version?

Have you tried in test mode ?

ah.
Still menus, will check out the other forum now mate......
thanks.
I have not tried test, but like I said the full compile works fine on powerdvd/windvd, but not on standalone.

When you say the DVD with the menu's doesn't play, do you mean that the DVD deosn't recognise it as a valid dvd, or does it start playing but freeze, or what is the behavior? DVDlab is a great tool, but is still mostly in Beta. We are all waiting with baited breath for version 1.3.

One other VERY useful suggestion when testing menus in DVDlab is to use the option to insert dummy movie files when you compile. It is a hell of a lot faster, and allows you to quickly compile, burn to a DVD+RW and then test on your standalone. This is one of the best features of DVDLab IMHO.

This way you can tweak, compile burn quickly, and this is imperitive for troubleshooting.

Trouble with that if you live in PAL land is that DVD Lab always uses NTSC for its test with dummy films - make your own dummys - 1 second clip from DVD Shrink in re-author will do.
If you get a compile error with the audio run it though AC3FIX
