Die aktuelle Version des Windows Media Player Classic bietet nun auch für ältere Systeme DVD-Wiedergabe und vieles mehr, was man von heutigen Windows Media Playern kennt.

Wer also entweder ein altes Windows-System oder eine schwache Hardwarekonfiguration besitzt, für den ist der Windows Media Player Classic ideal.

MPC rocks - and I wouldn say its just for slow machines - I prefer functionality over visuals ( though I wouldn use a command-line based media player ;) ).

not really, MPC is way better then mplayer2.exe. Just look in options :D

No, it says something like 'Its made to have the same look'n'feel than WiMP 6.4'.

"nachempfunden" as used in every day German means:
"based-on" or "copied-from"
and stems from the words:
nach = after
and
empfinden = feel

So "Der Windows Media Player Classic ist dem alten Windows Media Player 6.4, (bla bla) nachempfunden"
= The Windows Media Player Classic is "based-on" or "copied-from" Windows Media Player 6.4

But your translation could imply that he uses ms-code as base etc. which he certainly doesnt ;)

It should be :
MPC is inspired by MP6.4
OR
copies / emulates the look and feel of MP6.4

Oh and MPC does not have 'Windows' in its title :D

as I said in my very first post...

nachempfunden: you may want to have a look here... (http://dict.tu-chemnitz.de/).

the default setting for the page is just fine (german->english), so you just type the word nachempfunden and see the results.

this is by far the best available dictionary on the net!!

Edit: "based-on" is for sure the best general translation... but not "copied-from" as it's definitly not ;)

There is no perfect translation - thats one of the things you're up against when learning a new language. I've been living in Germany for 22 years now and being fluent at it doesn't make me agree with dictionaries.
The one above says "to sympathize with" which can't be used in the original sentance.
You have to "live" the language - not study it !!
