View Full Version : Recode - How to force Rescanning

Does anyone know how to force Recode to rescan the original source files? In my example I have a movie which I first put through Recode to analyse the Title structure. I then realised I could remove some unwanted Titles using Menuedit so I closed down Recode and did the Menuedit process. Now when I run the result through Recode it does not rescan the files and simply loads the cached results of its first scan (usually a very useful feature).

Problem is that it is still seeing the original size of the titles, despite the fact that they are now much reduced due to the menuedit procedure. If I run the Recode compression process I get errors when it gets to the affected Titles. I could leave them at Uncompressed - but then it would allocate too much space for them and compress the main movie too much.

I have tried some obvious things like changing the folder name in which the source files are stored and even unintalling and reinstalling Recode - no good. Recode must be storing these cached presacn data somewhere I guess.

Any ideas?

Nero recode stores the anlyses data in the useally hidden folder C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\Ahead\Nero Recode\DVDInfo

If you delete the contens of this folder it will analyse the DVD again.

C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\Ahead\Nero Recode\DVDInfo

is where it keeps it

EDIT LOL, been on phone for a bit and forgot to press submit and I see DVDRFreak has already posted answer, Oh well another post on my post count I guess :)

Thanks!

This forces a rescan as I wanted but now I'm getting an error when it gets to the Titleset I stripped with Menuedit. Recode obviously does not like the way Menuedit does its vob replacement. So its back to the old black frame .jpg using Recodes title disable feature.

Pants.

yep - Always do a Get VTS sectors after any stripping. I cant remember the exact error but it sounded like Recode could not read the vob. If you use Ifiedit to preview the Title you also get the MPEG error message - looks like Menuedit is not doing the vob replacement in a "standard" way that other apps like.

I doubt it has anything to do with MenuEdit. There is nothing special about cell replacement. Problem might be in the way IfoEdit corrects ifo files. Try using IfoUpdate in cell mode on the title set you've edited.
