Ok guys,

I'm a complete newbie so here goes. What steps should I take to burn MPEGs and AVIs onto a DVD recorder (Pioneer A05). How should I convert and burn? What is the best/easiest software to use ?

Welcome to the forum!

You should familiarize yourself with the forum rules, especially #1 and 12. Everybody has there own preference and opinion on what's "best" here. What's best is for your eyes alone to decide as far as quality is concern. What may look great to others, may not be great to you. :sly:

By the way, you state that you are from Oz. Have you seen Doom9?... as he states his location is "somewhere over the rainbow".:p

A good place to start is the Guides section on the Doom9 homepage. Grab one, get started, and give a yell when you get stuck! The first thing we see here at the forum is your thread's title, so be sure to give it one that describes the problem in as clean a manner as possible. Enjoy!

@2COOL - Hey, long time no see! Good to see ya in Noobs, come around more often, if you can!:)

Just remember that what you asked is a large question involving a lot of different options.

The simple answer is you need a DVD authoring program of some sort, and depending on that program, the files you have may be fine, or they may need to be transcoded first.

A lot of DVD burners come with a program called Sonic My DVD. It is crap, but will easily put together the files you have in a few easy steps. For better quality, follow the guides.

Good luck, when you have specific questions that the guide isn't clear on for you, come on back!
