Dropping frames, after a system restart

SYSTEM SPECS

AMD XP2400
512MB DDR RAM
Epox 8RDA+
80Gb 7200rpm 8mb Cache
LeadTek A280, geForce Ti4200 (capture device)
Running Windows XP Pro (no service pack installations)

Currently i either capture using VirtualDub or WinFast PVR software which came with the video card. I like VD better = ) does a better job, BUT i have a reocurring problem :confused:

I configure VD capture settings and proceed to capture video, i dont drop any frames..works like a charm. Then a day later i restart my PC, Configure VD to capture once again, but i loose frames at a remarkable pace.
This occurs, with exactly the same settings as before, wethere i capture uncompressed or compressed, makes no difference.

This has happened a number of times during the last couple of months, ive researched the issue but havnt had much luck.

**CAN ANYONE SHED SOME LIGHT ON THIS ISSUE AT ALL**

Hello, welcome to Doom9's forum!

I probably can't help you with the problem. Sometimes frame drops occur because of video quality, such as switching from a quality broadcast signal to an old video tape signal. Sometimes they occur because of background tasks, such as antivirus software, doing something special. And, since you've already researched your problem, it probably isn't one of those two reasons.

But I can offer advice that will make it more likely that people with more knowledge may read this thread. I recommend editing your post and changing the title to something more descriptive.

"Puzzled???" may be how you feel, but it's not a good description of the problem. Many of our members won't read posts if the discussion isn't in their area of expertise, and that's ok. But many of our members skip right past posts if the discussion has a nebulous title, also. It's why Rule #9 (http://forum.doom9.org/forum-rules.htm) exists.
