View Full Version : Drop Frames with Docce4u and DVDMaestro

I've been reading a bunch of posts on this, but wanted to check and see if there is another way of doing it.

I've started using docce4u to control my CCE encodes but I found that it sets all frames as drop frames which will not allow DVDMaestro to import chapters. I took the original CCE stream and did a 'pulldown.exe' on it like I used to before I started working with docce4u and it seems to have worked fine.

Question:

Is there any fix for this, or should I use the 'work around' that I saw which was to import another stream (4 hour blank) into DVDMaestro, import chapters then remove it and pull in my m2v?

Just wanted to make sure I'm doing this right.

I believe CCE doesn't do dropframe during encoding (could be wrong) but does a pulldown when it's finished

the .MPV should not be pulled down but the .MPV.M2V is..

unless your files shows "nopulldown" in the filename in which case the original is already pulled down....

normally if your using Maestro you need to import the .MPV, import your chapters, delete the MPV from the timeline and replace with the .MPV.M2V

Actually I believe it's docce4u that's doing the drop frame piece. When it does it's pulldown stage. I'm thinking about taking a pass on docce4u as I'm pretty good with the CCE settings. Fire up CCE on it's own and process with pulldown.exe (I use the gui) when that's done and I'm all ready. Since I have a dual xeon I'm playing around with running 2 CCE's at one time to get 100% out of both CPU's, and docce4u won't allow you to run two instances of CCE, but I can if I do it without docce4u.

Tonights experiment is to use avisynth instead of vfapi. Going for 3.0 on CCE Right now I'm at 2.7-2.9.

Yes DoCCE4u does it after then encoding and there's a switch to "delete mpv after pulldown" - shut that off and you'll have the CCE encoded MPV (not pulled down) and the .MPV.M2V (pulled down file)

I do have it turned off and I do get the original 'not pulled down' file. I guess I'm starting to wonder what docce4u is doing for me besides the GUI and batching capability. Especially if I have to run the pulldown myself afterwards. I'm a little confused as to why I don't have the ability to tell it NOT to do drop frame. Seems to screw up the subtitlers as well as those trying to import chapters into DVDMaestro.

your problem's not with DoCCE4u and that's all DoCCE4u is... batch cce automation. What you need to unselect is "delete mpv file after sucessfull pulldown" not the pulldown part

your problem is with Maestro which is why almost everyone now uses Scenarist..

Go read the Maestro Guide... it itself tells you you need both the pulled down and non pulled down file -

Pulldown is required for compliency / standards.... however, chapters - subs need the nondrop frame to align properly... Guide itself says "DO NOT USE PULLDOWN FILE OR YOUR CHAPTERS WILL NOT ALIGN CORRECT"

I suggest you read that guide as well as what pulldown is actually doing....

(unless of course I"m TOTALLY missing what your wanting :D)
