View Full Version : Maestro fails to import WAV - help!

I have extracted a two channel audio track from an avi and saved it as wav using virtualdub. Now I am ready to use Maestro to mux it together with my m2v file, it won't import as it says that only WAVE_FORMAT_PCM is supported.

Could anyone help me to resolve this incompatability? It's only Stereo, not AC3 6 channel. I have BeSplit and have tried changing it to mp3 and it won't import.

How can I get the audio track from the avi into a format Maestro will accept?

All help gratefully received.

You can try convert your .wav into .ac3 with e.g. BeSweet.

Another important thing is the frequency of your audio - it has to be 48000 instead of 44100 Hz!!

And to mp3 file format. DVD standard allows you to use only DTS, AC3 and MP2 (this one is for PAL only) file format. MP3 is not supported.

Thanks for replying. I have BeSweet (it was part of the GKnot pack) but haven't a clue how to use it!

Can you do a quick walkthrough (or point to link)?

Thanks

Update

I just went back to the avi and loaded it into virtualdub. Instead of doing a direct stream copy I went into processing mode and reset the sampling rate to 48Khz as coona mentioned.

Hey presto the resultant file loads into Maestro OK, BUT it's 1GB!!!

How do I get the correct 48Khz rate but a smaller filesize?

All replies appreciated.

U can't :). That's the magic of wav files. They r huge :).

U have to reencode it to ac3 or mp2, whgat ever suits u to get a smaller file size.

OK, I'll re-encode it - but how and with what app?

As I previously stated I've only got an avi file to work from, so I can't go back to source vob files.

Next step?

BeSweet is really easy to use. Install BeSweet and GUI for it. Then select input and output files (path to the besweet.exe shoud have been set corectly). Click on AC3/OGG/dts button in the right part of the window, select desired bitrate (in the left part of the window :)). Then copy command line into clipboard and paste it into dos window. Your command should look like e.g. this:

"C:\DVD\BeSweet\BeSweet.exe" -core( -input "C:\Track02.wav" -output "C:\Track02-New.ac3" -logfilea "C:\DVD\BeSweet\BeSweet.log" ) -ac3enc( -b 192 )

In my case I had to delete -logfilea part to work, but it could be only my issue. Feel free to ask for help if you need it.
