I'm trying out the demo of AnyDVD just for the heck of it, and no matter what program I use it with (DVDShrink, DVD2One, CloneDVD), I always have to use IFOEdit to make the video region free. Isn't AnyDVD supposed to do this? Anyone else having this problem?

I could go back to ripping with DVDDecrypter first, but was just interested in trying something new.

TIA for any response!

Hi homey,

You can try DVD Region-Free 3.0 Beta1 at http://www.dvdidle.com/DVDRegionFree30Beta1.exe to see the result.

This new version will enable your to backup all DVDs from any region with DVD2One, InstantCopy, DVDFab and DVD Shrink directly. You don't need to rip DVDs with DVD Decrypter at first, and it will remove all the protections on the DVDs.

Fengtao

AnyDVD is indeed doing just what you describe and in addition it also removes macrovision and all user action restrictions. Maybe your version is faulty because it's demo? :confused:I am using AnyDVD and never had any problem with it as opposed to DVDRegionFree which crashed my system several times.

AnyDVD does not work on every DVD. I have many DVD's not even play cause of wrong region with powerdvd...nor will they play on my players. I have to remove RCE protection with region free tool or DVD Decrypter. Until they fix this problem I will not use it.

I did the same DVD's with Region Free Tool 3.0 and had no problems playing them on my PC or Players.

AnyDVD and RCE protection. It appears at least in my System that AnyDVD does not remove RCE protection.
My dvd drive is a Compaq DVD-117.

Regardles of what encoding tool I use i get the "This Player is incompatible with the region marking on this disc"

The only way I get around this is to either use DVD Decrypter on the IFO's to remove RCE protection or IFO Region Free tool.

I have tried every Option in Anydvd and nothing works.

This happens when I do full DISC if I do only the main movie it works fine.

http://club.cdfreaks.com/showthread.php?s=&threadid=73052

It happens on certain titles using anydvd (1.4.4.1) and clonedvd (1.1.7.1). One in Particular is STNG episodics and Castaway is another. Using full Disc Mode reading straight from the dvd. I too have A sony Dru500....but that is not the problem because If I just create the Video files powerdvd will not play them region error.

If I rip the files using DVD Decrypter it will play fine of course DVD Decrypter removes all RCE protection....

Sorry for the long quote...

Exact same thing I'm seeing. My player is also my burner (Plextor 504a). AnyDVD isn't removing any RCE protection. DVDDecryptor removes it all.

Thanks for the reply!

Thanks for the reply, Fentgao. Looking at the product description, I see no mention of CSS removal. Will it do that? If not, DVDDecrypter is still needed.

Hi homey,

DVD Region-Free do remove the CSS, it also remove the "Region Code", "RCE - Region Code Enhancement", "Macrovision" and "User Operation Prohibitions".

As far as I can remember that wrong region problem is limited to AnyDVD + CloneDVD used on certain disk. I havent seen that problem with AnyDVD used with any other one click apps.

It happens with DVD2one and CloneDVD... I will not use AnyDVD with these Tools for that reason. If I process STNG Series with ANYDVD and DVD2One or CloneDVD... PowerDVD will not play the Video files.

If I use DVD Region free 3.0 and DVD2one I have absolutely no problems with regions.

CloneDVD is incompatible with DVD Region free 3.0.

Plus I have found DVD Region free to be Compatible with DVD2one,InstantCopy and Nero Recoder. AnyDVD cannot make this claim.

Actually IC can make claim that ANYDVD does work with it, because I Use it with no problems with RCE or CSS.

Dmagic,

Actually you are 100% correct. Upon removing the programs from DVD region free 3.0 AnyDVD is working with all the programs.

I just tried DVD Region Free 3.0 Beta with Nero Recode v.0.9.5.1. on Star Wars Episode 2 Pal, RC 2, no RCE. During analyzation of the movie everything works fine, but as soon as i start to recode to my HD i get the following message from Nero Recode: "Unexpected error during DVD processing."
Maybe someone has a tip or trick 4 me, because right now Nero Recode is my favourite tool and i would like to use it just as i had used DVDshrink before.

Maybe AnyDVD does a better job with recode, has somebody some experience with this setup ?

fengtao,

I see no evidence that the DVD Region-Free Beta removes CSS. What makes you say that it does?

DVD Region-Free 3.0 Beta... I'm impressed:

I just did Star Wars Episode 2, Attack of the Clones, Pal, RC2 with IC7 while Region-Free was running and i must say, everything worked fine:

-it removed the RC
-it removed the css
-it removed user prohibitions
-and last but not least i encountered not one problem during playback of the recoded DVD

and the transcoding time was just slightly higher in IC7 than on a not protected movie. It totaled about 2 h for analyzation and transcoding !

And the best is, that DVD Region-Free removed the playback of the copyright warnings at the beginning of the movie, although they r still on the DVD, i never encountered that while using DVDDecrypter or DVDshrink 2.3.

So I think DVD Region-Free is a great tool for IC7, but not for Nero Recode, 'cause as i mentioned earlier, i didn't work for me. As for DVDshrink which is also supported i don't know what DVD Region-Free is good for, as DVDshrink removes CSS an RC by itself. Maybe then Region-Free is good for removing RCE and user prohibitions, as DVDshrink for example doesn't support RCE removal, but i still haven't tried Region-Free on a RCE protected movie and don't know how good it is at that.

@gripweed

I burned my transcoded Star Wars Episode 2 DVD (IC7 & DVD Region-free) and run it through DVDDecrypter as this programm detects if there is CSS on a DVD and there was none on mine.

But on the other hand i still want to test other dvds with IC7 & Region-Free, because i don't want to judge on the evidence of just one transcoded Movie, but so far it worked for me and I'm impressed with the results.

I have had zero success using DVD Region-free in removing css on the fly for processing with DVD2One (1.23). I tried about a half dozen different DVDs, both trying whole disk and movie only. DVD2One always gave an "encrypted" or "protected disk" error meaning that css was not removed. Results were the same whether I used my Liteon DVD-Rom driver or Pioneer DVD-RW burner drive. Testing AnyDVD instead produces success every time.

If someone knows the secret as to how to make it remove css I'd love to hear about it.

Try adding your DVD2one executable to Region free tool...Also before starting DVD2one make sure ANYdvd is not running if you are using it. When You start DVD2one region free tool should load automatically if it's not loaded.

Even though DVD2One is listed in the Program section I attempted to add it in anyway. Makes no difference. Still no css removal.

AnyDVD was disabled while testing out DVD R-F. In fact during part of the test I completely uninstalled it.

DVD R-F loads when using DVD2One, it just doesn't remove css.

One other thing I tried was to reboot after installing DVD R-F even though the instructions make no mention of doing so. No success either way.

One thing that has me wondering is that Fengtao gave the address to get "Beta 1" of DVD R-F. When you attempt to download it you actually wind up with "Beta 2". Perhaps "Beta 2" has its css removal turned off? Anyone that has the css removal working, are you using Beta 1 or 2?

Hi,

DVD Region-Free Beta2 just adjusts some UI elements, there is no change in core engine.

Gripweed: could you please e-mail me at fengtao@dvdidle.com, and I will send you the test tool to find out the problems.

Hi,

We just released DVD Region-Free 3.0 RC1 at http://www.dvdidle.com/DVDRegionFree30RC1.exe. Please try it to see the result. It should fix the bugs when you run DVD2One and Nero Recode.

NOTE: this version will expire after 8/20/2003, after that, you need re-download the newer version.

Fengtao,
Just to let everyone else know as I've already written to you the good news via email, the new RC1 version has fixed my problem with css removal. I'm very impressed with the way the program works. I still need to do some side by side tests but I'm almost positive that it works faster than AnyDVD when used with DVD2One.
