View Full Version : interlaced problem

I have never has this problem before until now, I am trying to backup a copy of 'Billy Connolly LIVE 2002' to SVCD using DVD2SVCD.

The source is Pure Interlaced and I want to keep it that way, so I set up the encoder to encode interlaced. First I tryed Canopus Procoder, then I tryed CCE, but I still got the same problem.

The problem is that, when playing it back on PowerDVD or my TV I still see artifacts and combing. This souldn't happen, because the TV is Interlaced and PowerDVD applys Bob.

I used SimpleResize so that souldn't be the problem.

I have uploaded 15 second clips for the source and the encoded video:

Also here is a extract of my log:

your resize-method is wrong.
you have to separate the fields before resizing!

Doing a "normal" resize on interlaced video will mess up the content of the fields, so that the content of fíeld A is partially in field B and vice versa. This produces interlacing artifacts even on TV!

instead of simpleresize (which kind of resizer is this?)
use:
separatefields()
your resizer here(480,432)
weave()

scharfis_brain,
I just tried your method and I ended up with a Output resolution of 480 x 1008.

Your method did not work, here is my original script and the modifyed script:

Original:

Import("D:\TEMP(D~1\VIDEOC~1\RESAMP~1.AVS")
LoadPlugin("C:\PROGRA~1\DVD2SVCD\AVISYN~1\Mpeg2dec\mpeg2dec.dll")
mpeg2source("D:\TEMP(D~1\VIDEOC~1\DVD2AV~1.D2V")
LoadPlugin("C:\Program Files\DVD2SVCD\Avisynth2 Plugins\SimpleResize\SimpleResize.dll")
SimpleResize(480,432)
AddBorders(0,72,0,72)
ResampleAudio(44100)

Modifyed:

Import("D:\TEMP(D~1\VIDEOC~1\RESAMP~1.AVS")
LoadPlugin("C:\PROGRA~1\DVD2SVCD\AVISYN~1\Mpeg2dec\mpeg2dec.dll")
mpeg2source("D:\TEMP(D~1\VIDEOC~1\DVD2AV~1.D2V")
LoadPlugin("C:\Program Files\DVD2SVCD\Avisynth2 Plugins\SimpleResize\SimpleResize.dll")
separatefields()
SimpleResize(480,432)
weave()
AddBorders(0,72,0,72)
ResampleAudio(44100)

I also tried BiCubicResize and got the same results.

note: 'SimpleResize' is a common resizer and is bundled with DVD2SVCD.

oh sorry, my mistake!

thanks, I will give it a try and reencode.

This is odd though because many other Interlaced sources I have done before (TV,DVD,DV-Cam) have encoded fine by just using SimpleResize.

Anyway I'll give it a shot.

great, It Worked! Thank you.

hmm, I wonder if InterlacedResize does the samething.
