I'm using Windows Media Player; the file plays, but the video is really jerky and the audio is way out of sync.

theoretically it should be no problem, but perhaps you'll want to try to play it in another player, preferably a DVD player like PowerDVD or WinDVD. since SVCDs contain mpeg2 video those might handle the streams better.

if you want to play it in WMP anyway you should make sure that you have all the right codecs installed!

I use WinDVD to play SVCDs and it works quite well.

It supports chapter points and selectable audio. It does not support SVCD or CVD subs - I don't think there is any software player that does.

Hmmm...the video seemed to play worse on PowerDVD than on WMP...any idea what codec(s) I need to play SVCD MPEG files?

actually PowerDVD should include all the codecs you'll need...
could you tell us your computer specs?!

definitely sufficient for playing SVCDs :)

anyway, have you tried other SVCDs or have you tried playing this SVCD on another computer/standalone. perhaps it is an encoding issue!

The file works with WinDVD (in case you were on the edge of your seat wondering); thanks, all.
