cce freezing at second encoding

When I first tried to do this movie it turned out as 1 hour 14 minutes on one cd and needless to say it was only 40 min or so before the cd stopped playing....when I tried to reconfigure dvd2svcd to make it on 2 discs, it stopped during the second enoding of the file in cce. I have a very stable win xp system, athlon xp 1700+, 256 ddr ram, not overclocked, nothing else in the background running except for nav(which uninstalled and tried to encode and it still didnt work). Here is my info file and any help or point in the right direction would be greatly appreciated and yes i did a search and found a few other instances of cce freezing and tried the remedies that they said(nav uninstall for one) and nothing seems to work.

I have the same problem you have now, ever since I'd re-installed WinXP. It used to work just fine. I've been trying to figure out what caused this problem but haven't have any luck. I know it's not the PC's problem 'cause I've done quite a few svcds with that same PC before. I don't think it's CCE that causes the problem either because I encoded a 1-hour-long dv-avi file with CCE (not in dvd2svcd) and it worked fine.

Hopefully someone can come up with a fix!

If you are still using CCE 2.50, try a newer version such as CCE SP 2.66/2.67 or CCE Basic.

I have the same problem with CCE 2.5 in both XP/W2K after I did a clean install but it used to work fine before. It will stop on the second pass, the same setting works fine with CCE 2.67. It could be something wrong when creating the *.vaf, I restarted CCE when it happened, tried MPV 1-Pass without creating a new .vaf file and it also freezes, the only way that 2.50 works now is with CBR or OPV.
Don't know if we should blame it on Windows updates, DX9.1 or Avisynth.

weird thing....deleted that file...encoded other files with no problem....same thing is happening again...must be something to do with ac3 sound which is what the two movies have in common

I get the same thing as everyone else here is getting. I am using AVI2DVD 1.2.1 Build3, CCE 2.5, avisynth 2.08/2.5, and Scenarist 2.7. Running WinXP on a P4 3.0ghz, 1gb RAM , and with 2x250gig on RAID0 with around 200gb free. On some videos CCE just kind of hangs when it wants to start the second pass. CPU usage drops from around 90% to around 50%. Perhaps it could have something to do with HyperThreading?? I noticed during the first pass both CPU's were at work while afterwards on the second pass attempt only the second CPU was working.... Here is the log of AVI2DVD:

There is something wrong with these settings. The average bitrate shouldn't be lower than the minimum bitrate. Set minimum bitrate to 1000 and try again.
