Hi and welcome to the forum.
Ordinarily the audio is done separately from the mpeg video encoding. So, strip the audio from the .avi and convert it to mp2. Then mux the audio with the video using bbMPEG.
First, find out what audio's inside the .avi with GSpot (http://www.doom9.org/Soft21/Editing/gspot221.exe).
At the very bottom of this Guide (http://www.doom9.org/virtualdub_procedures.htm) you'll find out how to get the audio out of the .avi.
Here's a Guide (http://www.doom9.org/mp2-hac3.htm) for converting to mp2 using HeadAC3he.
Here's a Guide (http://www.doom9.org/mpg/bbmpeg.htm) for muxing the audio into the video using bbMPEG.
And to save yourself some trouble next time, here's the AVI To SVCD (http://www.doom9.org/mpg/dvd2svcd-avi.htm) guide.
And you could have probably discovered these things on your own, by just looking around a bit. :)

Say thank you to the nice man for showing you step by step how to do what you want. Actually, you don't even need to convert to WAV first. You can just Save WAV and then rename it as MP3 or AC3 or whatever it is (I use NanDub for this, rather than Virtual Dub, which doesn't support VBR MP3). And you don't need BeSliced for this, but Here (http://www.doom9.org/Soft21/Audio/BeSlicedv0.2.zip), knock yourself out.

And: thank you for reading the rules.
You d/l your movies? Sure they are pirated. Read forum rule 6.
