I had a chance to play with DVD-X Copy and found it was very fast compared to my CCE encode DVDMaestro method. I guess I'm wondering if it's anything as good as a true CCE encode at VBR 4000? I usually only go for the main movie no subtitles, no languages etc but the quality is pretty important to me. Does DVD-X Copy do anything like CCE?
Thanks,

Are you talking about DVDXCopy or DVDXCopy Express? DVDXCopy does a 1:1 copy spread out over 2 discs and does not compress at all, while the Express version compresses to fit onto a single DVD-R, or at least that is how I understand it. I don't use either product, so I am only going by what I have heard and read.
Since DVDXCopy does not compress, it would create an identical copy of the original, just spread out over 2 discs, so it would follow that it would be better than CCE, since CCE would be re-encoding.
DVDXCopy Express is just another transcoder, and though it would most likely look very good if the original required very little compression, I would bet on CCE winning on longer or more highly compressed videos.

I didn't realize DVD-X Copy needed 2 disks until the movie stopped and said 'insert disk 2'. I guess CCE is still on top.
