I am using scenarist and I have a multiangle clip which i am using Button over Video to switch between the different angles. I've noticed that when I play the disk on my computer or in a dvd player that it takes about 2-4 seconds for the video to actually switch to a different angle once the button is activated. this also occurs when i use the Angle button on my remote.

I tried to find other dvd titles that have multiangle features to see if this is 'just the way it is' but couldn't find any

Is there any way to better control this lag time or am I stuck?

I've been trying to do the same thing, however i'm unable to make it seamless when using buttons over to video to change the track.

I don't see a problem in using the angle button on the remote to change this unless you have more than one audio stream. Seamlesss multiangle clips share the same audio stream

Most players have a delay, it's due to the read-ahead buffer. Once the new angle is selected the data for it begins reading into the buffer, but it is impossible to flush the buffer and still maintain playback, hence the delay.
Using button-over-video is probably adding another delay when compared to the angle button itself (commands need to be interpretted for the button-over-video).
The book "DVD Demystified" has good examples of multi-angle on its companion DVD, and there is a delay on my players.

Multi-angle only appears to share audio in authoring software, actually each angle has its own audio and subpicture streams multiplexed in, and it is possible to use different audio. (the above mentioned DVD has an example of seperate audio for each angle).
