Doom9's test is certainly informative and interesting. But don't forget codecs don't stand still and as such things have moved on quite a bit.
RMV9 is much improved now it has EHQ.
DivX has released some great test codecs too, such as Kauehi and Manihi
Xvid is always improving
And M$ has now released it's 'non beta' version of WMV9 VCM.

so we should wait for another tests. the question is: "when?"
i have too low system resources to do them by myself :(

Well don't fret too much. As Sagittaire has done some more up to date tests here: -

Now, while I don't agree with some of the results (due to the way they have been compiled) I do think that the information posted is very useful and very much worth reading.
Sagittaire has generated clips that you can download and is constantly updating his thread. And he seems keen to use all the latest 'beta/test codec's.
He must be worn out..... the poor guy!
