Hi to all!
I want to know if it's possible to replace an existing menu background with a BMP or JPG image without re-authoring all the menu.
In particular:
I've a menu composed with 4 Vob id's (each with 0 cells) (all menu is composed by still images) so 1st Vob id contain the main selection, 2nd vob the audio selection and go on. I've removed an audio channel so i want to completely delete the link and the "image". I've tried to "split" the menu by Vob id using VobEditor (i get 4 single vobs) modified the "menu part" and rebuild the menu but:
1) I lost all buttons (and relative links) availables in the Vob id
2) I get a not-working menu (the size differs to the original menu size, so the IFO is incorrect)

So final...there's a tool that allow me only to replace a single background?

Thanks for helps and sorry for my bad english.

Hi,

a little question first: why would you want to do this? I guess it's the size of the menu you want to reduce?

I don't think it's possible without reauthoring. If it's size you're worried about and don't care about the quality of you're menu, only want the buttons to still work why not use dvdshrink and shrink the menu with a very high compression rate? Faster/easier then taking the entire menu apart.

The size is a problem that stop me with this "work".
Basically I would like to remove the link and the text itself in a menu.
If I use DVDShrink with MenuEdit I can remove the link but not the text in the menu. It's a little problem but is "needed" to make a good re-encoding. Simply I would like to replace the background with a my background (where the unused buttons (links and text) are replaced by a "clean" background.
Thanks for the reply anyway!

Create a very simple menu yourself then, that shouldn't be too hard.

The original menu is quite simple.. so re-authoring the menu shouldn't be a problem. Only a little question... Can I create a menu with DVDMaestro or Scenarist without linking the button? I prefer to link the buttons with MenuEdit (I think link the button in Maestro require to insert the movie in the timeline). Am i wrong?
Thanks!

I think it wil compile fine without setting button commands. Actually setting button comamnd will require video/tracks in scenarist. (which you could replace with dummies ofcourse).

I believe dvd-lab has a nice feature to compile a menu without video (and replacing it with a dummy file automatically)

When you say "...rebuild the menu..." what do you mean by this? Have you got new vob file with new video stream? Do you have an old subpicture in it?

If you can go this far just use MenuEdit to "replace vob" (http://menuedit.dimad.net/ht_me_replace_cell.html). And your are done! (just don't forget to "get vts sectors" when you are finished with all files on your disk)

Hi!,
I mean:
The menu is composed in 3 part (audio selection, scene selection, extra). Each part is a Vob ID. I need to change the background of the part of menu with VobID 2 so I have modified that and then i've muxed it with old 2 VobID (1 and 3). I get a unique vob (correct) but the size isn't the same of the original menu so the original IFO is uncorrect.
Anyway I'm trying to re-author the entire menu/dvd with Maestro. ATM is equal to the original menu (due to low complexity of the original menu).
Thanks a lot to all for the help!
