why the powerdvd program shows to me that the avi file is in stereo mode even if i encode it with ac3 machine in dolby 5.1 mode.
the ac3 file is in 5.1 but if i mux it with the film with gknot the whole movie tunrs to stereo mode. did i something wrong?

hi and welcome to the forum,
have you tried installing Ac3filter (http://www.doom9.org/Soft21/Filters/ac3filter_0_69b.exe) and playing it in your normal video player (e.g BSplayer, zoomplayer etc)?

might fix your problem...

I am 99.99% sure that this is not a Gordian Knot problem. I suggest moving this thread to another forum.

AFAIK PowerDVD only version 5 and higher support AC3 in AVI. So you need to get the fifth vesion to get it working. My v4XP didn't work, too.
