I jusr ripped a movie off dvd, in 3 parts. IN my Misc tab in DVD2svcd i set it to mpeg1, but when i dragged it in vcdeasy it says it is mpeg2 and so vcdeasy needs padding..bla bla.. i want to know why is this. i even played it on powerDVD and it says Video: mpeg1 & Audio: Mpeg 2.0.
even though it shows the video file is mpeg1 why does vcd easy say it is mpeg 2

if not how can i convert mpeg2 to mpeg1 without quality loss and no file size diffrence

Why do you set it to mpeg1 if you want SVCD? SVCD is mpeg2. VCD is mpeg1. According to the thread title you say you have SVCD probs. If you want VCD with mpeg1 then you should also use VCD resolution. What are you trying to do? VCD or SVCD?

You can use tmpgenc to recode mpeg2 to mpeg1 or vice versa. But you'll loose quality. You'll get smaller files when going from SVCD to VCD. It's better to rip the DVD again.
