I just bought a MiniDV camcorder (TRC-22E) and I don't know anything starting from transferting the movies, and editing it into a DVD (MPEG2) movie!
I know the programs I get with it, are not good! (imagemixer)
I know everything about authoring DVD's etc. (I do authoring with scenarist) but I don't know how to transfer the movie to the computer.

and another thing, is it o.k. to use USB2? or just firewire, does it make any diffrence?

please help as fast as you can.

thanks!

the wollmann!

Try changing the subject to your thread according to the forum rules (#9), maybe you'll get more views and also more people will be able to help you.

And forget about the words "please help" on your subjects, they are in 10 out of 11 post of yours and can be completely eliminated.

Hope this helps.

1- You need to buy a firewire card and cable (if you don't have one).

2- You must then enable DV out from the camcorder's menu

3- you can use DVIO or DVapp (freewares) to capture (DV takes 13 gig per hour)

4- I believe that this camcorder has a passthrough feature which means that you can use it to capture VHS (without using a DV tape). See your manual.

Hope this helps.

can I use something like adobe premiere? is this similar to DVIO?

what do you meen with 4? what will this do? conect a VHS (or an analog camcorder) to this cam, and copy directly without a miniDV tape? this is what you meen?

and again, thank you!

I think he means that if your camcorder has a analog input, you can connect your VHS there and pass it through DV out to your PC (without a minidv tape).
About USB, i dont think your camcorder has a usb2 output.. it doesnt matter if your computer has usb2, if your camcorder doesnt support it you have to use "slow" USB (v1=1.5MB/s)

I think it is a USB and not USB2 but does this differ for quality?

I am using USB as well, but i have already ordered a firewire(iLink) card which is much faster.. and I hope i'll get much better results with it... i will post them in:

Premiere can also capture DV from camcorder. I suggested DVIO because it's free. Mijalis explained the passthrough feature better than I did. So yes that is what I meant to say by using the passthrough feature of the camcorder.

Firewire is much better than USB 1.1 at transfering video.
