hi, i have just used telecide+decimate(25) on a short film which was PAL with 24 upped to 25 fps by adding another frame which buggered up the field order (you know, fields shifting once every second) - and it worked beautifully. now i have some vobs waiting to be encoded which is progressive PAL where somewhere near the end of the movie, the fields shift and the remainder of the movie looks combed. but in this case, this only happens once in the whole movie and not once per second (who knows why this is on the dvd).
can i use telecide for this? i don't want the filter to touch any of the frames besides a few at the problem spot - can i be confident telecide will leave all those progressive frames alone? or do i encode in two parts, one with a swapped field order, and merge the avi files.

As a PAL user i do not really know what Telecide will do to your 'good' frames, but i'd recommend using the avisynth trim command to process the small section where the 'error' occures seperately, but still be able to encode the movie in just one piece!

Nothing ... From its manual:
"By default, Telecide runs postprocessing on the recovered frames. This postprocessing checks each frame to see if it is combed (some combed frames may come through the field-matching process [see below]), and if a frame is combed, it is deinterlaced, otherwise it is not touched."
