I just bought the elta 8882 and now i'm begining to wonder.....
I own a Pioneer 105 dvd writer ( -R ) and have made several dvd's that play on my Playstation 2, and play's also on Jvc dvd player and of course on the Revoy 3200 of a friend of mine, But it won't play on the Elta 8882, It load's than on the television it say's SCART-PAL and than ejects this Dvd... WTF this happen wil al my home made Dvd's.
Does anyone of you Elta owners confirm this..... i'm getting verry disapointed in this product.

01. Original Dvd = OK
02. Home made Dvd-R = Not OK
03. Home made Dvd with Divx = OK
03. Home made Cdr with Divx = OK
04. Divx3 = Not OK ( The picture will freeze sometimes, only with high encoded files )
05. Divx4 = OK
06. Divx5 = OK
07. Xvid = OK
08. Vcd = OK
09. Svcd = OK
10. Skvcd = OK

I have a Waitec DVD-X4, which is == elta 8882 (same HW). I have just 3 DVD-R in DVD format. 2 of them do play, 1 doesn't. I didn't bother, converted the 1 not-playing to DivX5, and that's fine for me.

Sorry for the small size of my sample; 1 out of 3 is a worrying percentage, if we discover it applies! How many DVD-R's did you try?

I only tried one brand of dvd-r and dvd+r ( Datawrite )
I tried about 15 dvd titles and nothing works... :(

I made my Elta region free, but i play's all orginal dvd's, malysian import region 0.

The problem is i got 100 4 speed Dvd-r of Datawrite.

I Guess we have to find out wich brands DO work on this player.....

BTW i also contacted ELTA support in germay, hopefully the player itself can be flashed so it recognises more media.

I also don't know what kind of dvd player is mounted in the Elta unit.

Cheers

I haven't had any problems with DVD-Rs on that player. So far I've used Verbatims and el cheapo Sunstars and smartbuys. I've also used Verbatim DVD-RWs, and Ritek 1x and 2x DVD-RWs without any problems.

Yesterday i tried a couple of dvd's ( Brand Datawrite )they contained Svcd's reencoded with MainConCept Mpeg Encoder to Dvd.
After that the files authored with Tmpgenc Dvd Author, After that the size is adjusted with Dvd2one or with DvdShrink.
And burned with Nero.

These DVD's play flawless ( even datawrite ).

Now i tried the same dvd's but then they were copy's of original dvd's.
Those copy's are made with Dvd Decrypter, copy the contents of the original dvd to hdd.
The size is adjusted so a dual layer dvd fit's a single layer witth dvdshrink of dvd2one without the menu's.
Then they were burned with Nero.

Why does the Elta doesn't play copy's of original dvd's.
What is wrong with the way i have copied serveral dvd's.
I have about 50 copy's so it's quite a hassle to reconvert them to divx or remaster them.

Thanks for your asnwers..

I just had a mail from :

Elta GmbH
Carl-Zeiss-Str. 8
63322 Rödermark

We have tested a lot of DVD +R/RW and -R/RW Discs without problems.
Please check if this files are burned as an ISO or and UDF Standard.
The Player has some problems with the UDF Standard.
Is this not the solution of your Problem, please send a sample.

So there are a few problems, i have send the detailed information to Elta GmbH and they are searching for a answer.
I will post the response that i receive from Elta.

Cheers

I have a Pioneer A05, firmware 1.30RPC-1. I've also watched a few DVDShrink transcoded (some movie only, some full movie), and DVD Decrypter 1:1 copies and they worked as well. Could be your Nero settings.. it's not the best program to burn DVDs in the first place (especially if you don't use the latest version).

I also got the Pioneer 105 with the firmware 1.30RPC-1.
I have found out that this problem isn't only on the Elta player but also on the Kiss / Revoy divx players.

The support of UDF format's seems to be the problem.
When you burn the DVD's with the ISO format there should be no problems.

I'm not sure because i havn't tested it jet.
I burned the Dvd with nero with the default settings, i don't know if the default is UDF or ISO.

@Doom9 wich software do u use, currently i have Nero6 installed and have to check if this version is more compliant like other software.
Hmmmm i like Nero, so it will be hard to switch to another product.
But hey if this Solves my problem...

I have the latest Nero 5.5 (can't tell you the version number because I'm in the office).. I also used the default DVD template a couple of times.. but afaik DVDs are at least ISO/UDF and never completely UDF, and most players have no problems with pure ISO discs whereas pure UDF ones are usually problematic.. so better stay away from pure UDF discs.

True,

So, burn the dvd's in iso mode and you will have less problems than in udf mode.
I'm glad that i did find out that the player is compatible with the media i used and that i can use the Datawrite dvd's... Pffffff

The prices in the netherlands just went up last month i guess with 1 Euro a piece so just before the price went up i bought 100 pieces.

Wel that closes this topic :)
