View Full Version : Scenarist, DTS and different timecodes

Hi guys

I have this job where I'm doing the local version of Final Destination 2 for Argentina, and they already sent me the assets on DVD-
ROMs. One problem I have in Scenarist is that the movie file has a timecode start of 1:00:00:00 and the DTS audio file (according to the log that came with it) starts at 0:59:50:00. When I line them up in Scenarist, of course the DTS audio comes back 10 seconds later!
Anyone know how to fix this? Is there a workaround this issue? The AC3 5.1 and 2.0 are ok and sync to the movie with no problems...

You should be able to use some frame header editing software to change the m2v times to match the dts stream, which should solve the issue. I've not had to do this before, but this software may help:

Oh by the way Enrique, Just out of curiousity... was the DTS track provided to you full or half rate DTS?

It is full rate. On the same topic, if I try to use he same dts track ripped from the DVD, Scenarist won't let me import it. Any clues why that might be? The extension is .dts (I ripped it on a Mac using YADE)

Which version of Scenarist do u have? DTS is allowed from 2.6 and above.

I'm using 2.6. It accepts a DTS stream they sent me (from the original authoring house) that is out of sync with the movie. So I ripped the DTS from the replicated DVD they sent me as ref, but Scenarist 2.6 wont "see it"... :-(

I'm still not clear on what you are saying - is the audio out of sync by the timecode (that is if you line up the same timecode on the audio with the video, is it still out of sync), or is it out of sync when you assume it starts at the same time as the video (ignoring timecode)? Having audio and video sources start with different times is common, it just shows a different amount of pre-roll. In either case, Scenarist allows for adjustment by dragging, or changing the start time.

The audio is out of sync when I line up the same timecode on the audio and video (I assume is starts at the same time as the video)
