View Full Version : Joining 2 halves of a movie - how to?

Hi all

The movie I am attempting to author is in two separate avi files with ac3 sound. I have followed guides and have extracted ac3 and processed video, and I'm ready to author.

But how do I join the two halves? I usually mux with Maestro but it won't import a second media asset on the same track line.

Is there a simple solution to this? Or should I have done the joining back before processing the audio / video?

BTW I've used TMPG to process the video, and virtualdub / beslice to extract the ac3.

Help and suggestions welcomed.

Cheers

JF

I don't know maestro but it would seem quite normal to me to add the second part as a second film - link accordingly to the menu or from one to the other.

If the properties of the assets are the same (audio bitrate, video type) it would be quite easy in scenarist. Just create two tracks and put both tracks in the same PGC. You might have a slight pause when playing though.

Maestro can accept a second and third etc video in the same timeline, it doesn't allow you to do the same with audio. U have to use the 'Create Sync Audio' for it.

@JF Sebastian

You can use two separate movies without the audio sync and use actions to start the second movie when the first one finishes (using chapter points). Also, check if the playlists can be of any use to you.
