Hi ppl.

I post this so people become aware of problems of incompatibility of some Radeon 9500 and 9700 graphic cards and some shuttle barebones (SB61G2 in my case).

Even though the problem is not so linear, on a great percentage of combinations between the two (mobo and graphic card) the barebone just won't boot.

In some cases, it will boot with an external psu making the problem look as if we were short in power but in reality that's not the case, on other cases even if you use a 400w psu it won't boot anyway.

Shuttle (USA) finally recognized the problem. Look here:

http://forums.sudhian.com/messageview.cfm?catid=43&threadid=38662&FTVAR_MSGDBTABLE=&STARTPAGE=1

But in my particular case, the dedicated audio card workaround didn't worked and looks like that for many other people two.

The barebones have to be returned to Shuttle in germany for "hardware upgrade and replacement of some capacitors". Meaning a big wait in some cases as they make you go through the national rep.

I alert everybody to the fact that the "fixed" boards look exactly the same of faulty ones making it difficult to know what you're buying so my advice is try before you buy.

Shame on shuttle for not having any reference to this problem on their webpage. Only on their forum you find it.

All the best,

Sharro
