Love dvd2svcd, my dream come true!! Backed-Up a few movies successfully and now I want to start chapters. Thing is that everyone says to burn the bin/cue files, but I am burning the mpeg files that there are(2-in the movie folder). Anyways can I go ahead and use tmpeg dvd author, or can I use vcd imager which came w/ dvd2vcd (which I would prefer).. Appreciate it! ;-)

hi and welcome to the forum,
why don't you create the SVCD images like most people do? or do you not burn to normal cds? anyway, iirc it is possible with tmpeg dvd author. I do not know about vcdimager - i mean you can insert chapters, but i do not know if you then have to create an image - which then would get you to where d2s could get you anyway!
i just do not see a point in not burning the iso files!

Hey thanks for the welcome, nice to be aboard! I'm sorry I forgot they are the muxed_files. When I put the svcd in my player it has 1 menu/chapter where the movie begins. In nero it let's me change the background and text, then it has thumbnail options and stuff. The movie quality btw is great.. As for why not do it like everyone else, I want to try and go w/ what's working. It would require deamon tools which would probably have me puzzled for another week. ;->

Hi-
If you want chapters, as far as I know, you'll have to make a true SVCD from your muxed .mpgs, using DVD2SVCD or VCDEasy or some other tool. I've never used Nero for this, so I don't know about that. But chapters are easy to create, and sure beat having to fast forward through your 1 chapter SVCD when you want to get to someplace in the middle of the movie. If you still want just the muxed .mpg from DVD2SVCD, VCDEasy is a really easy tool to use to make chapters and then to burn the SVCD. A number of people around here can give you lessons.
As for Daemon Tools, the only reason you really need that is for checking out the SVCD before burning (still a very good idea). But you certainly don't need it for burning the image file. You can do that with VCDEasy, Nero, CDRWin or a number of other programs.
Here's Doom9's VCDEasy Authoring and Burning Guide. And if you don't care about having the exact chapters as on the DVD, you can set them for every 5 minutes or however you like, even more easily:
