View Full Version : Audio on backup is not as loud as original disc!

Ok boys and girls, I know I've been out of the loop for a while but bear with me. I thought I remembered someone mentioning this once before but I could not find it in a search. I've not noticed differences myself in the past either. Anyway, I did the disc "Equilibrium" today and while I was checking chapters and comparing to the original, I noticed the volume was off. The audio level on the backup was about 5-10dB quieter than the original!

Sure, I could probably just crank the volume but I feel that something is getting lost in the process here and I want to figure out what the hell is going on. There was no time delay to correct so the audio was untouched. It SHOULD be the exact audio from the original but it is clearly different. I would appreciate some insight if someone else has seen this anomaly. Thanks.

In my case, I found out with WinDVD, if you play the thing off a folder it's nowhere as loud as playing it off a DVD (or a DVD image via Daemon Tools), i.e., as soon as you burn the files onto a DVD it gets louder! It's a software thing of course, but don't know if that's your case though.

Thanks for your input, Hyper. I was using WinDVD. I have for quite a while now so I'm suprised this is the first I've noticed this strange anomaly when playing from a folder. Anyway, I'll go check it out and report back later.

I'm using WinDVD Platinum 4.5.28.108 btw, since v5 doesn't seem to like Scenarist generated stuff too much (video skips when it goes from 1 cell to another), so I don't know if v5 does that weird audio thing too.
