Hi,
I have captured my DV video with Adobe Premiere 6.0 and wound up with an .avi file.
Then I ran that through Main Concept (I can also use TMPGEnc) to get the Mpg file, which plays fine in Power DVD.
How can I burn this mpg to a dvd-r? I use RecordNow DX with Sony DRU500AX.
Do I need to create a VIDEO_TS folder with VTS files and IFO's like DVD2one and Dvdshrink do in order to burn it?
I don’t want any lose of quality in the video.
Thanks for any help.

you could try it if recordNow has got some DVD wizard, but as you already said, you'll need quite a few more files. Nero can generate these, but i wouldn't really recommend using it...

iirc you also got Sonic MyDVD with your burner (got exactly the same one). try authoring your DVD with this program.

there's a guide describing exactly the process you are trying to accomplsih (although utilising some other programs) on doom9.org. in the guides section go to 'format conversation guides' and then to AVI to DVDR. It will guide you through the process!

To enhance steve's reply a bit.

U can't burn a mpeg file in a dvd-r and expect it to play in a standalone. Although there r some that play anything. It just isn't spec compatible.

U have to author it. Meaning u have to specify its ar, what audio should it play along, subs if needed, a menu navigational structure etc.

All the above can be acheived only by using an authoring program. There r a lot of kinds out there. From the simpest ones such as myDVD to proffesional such as Scenarist. All of them perform the basic task that is the creation of a spec compatible VIDEO_TS folder with a set of properly formatted and multiplexed files.

So use the authoring prog that came with your burner. My dvd is capable of simple menu creation, accepts the audio the Premiere can export. I don't recall right now if it accepts ac3 audio.

As for the rest, just follow steve's advise.
