View Full Version : Re-authoring DTS loses sync...how to fix?

I'm in the process of compiling a demo of 5 minute DTS clips. Here's the procedure, and the problem:

Extract the clip using DVDShrink (selecting the start and end points, re-authoring with only DTS)

If I play the new VOB with PowerDVD 4, everything is fine.

If I demux the VOB using VOBEdit, or the built-in demuxer in DVDLab, then reauthor using DVDLab or DVD Maestro, the new VOB has the sound late by 8-12 frames (~.5 secs).

I can manually try to fix it using AC3Delay corrector (which now does DTS files as well), but I'd like to figure out the problem and fix it at the source.

Is there some delay parameter that is being lost? Is there an authoring program that will allow me to slip the DTS track forward (instead of my trial and error method)? Can the delay be set in the IFO or VOB using IFOedit or VOBedit?

Thanks tons for any help or pointers that can be offered.

Here's my computer:

Windows XP Pro SP1
PowerDVD 4 (w/ DTS Decode ability)
DVDLab (1.1)
DVD Maestro (the last release)
DVDShrink (2.3)
All the latest versions of IFOEdit, VOBEdit, AC3Delay corrector

(I'm only using the DTS track, with no DD or PCM. The test discs I've made have played fine in my set top players, with the exception of the time delay.)
