I need help with redundent disc structure issues

I'm trying to backup my "Friends" season 3 and 4 dvds. The first two season were no problem but now the disc structure has changed. I'm using Reauthorist, DIF4U, DoCCE4U and Scenarist to backup. Starting with season Three there is a PGC that contains all of the episodes (I guess for the Play all funtion) then there are seperate PGCs for each individual episode.

What is the best way to back this up without re-encoding the same material twice and without manually reauthoring?

the way to go about doing this is to demux only the pgc with all of the episodes in it in DIF4U. so if pgc 1 is the 'play all' pgc then you can deselect the other pgcs in DIF4U because pgc 1 has all the material. then you go about the regular way using RA and DC4U and load the RA script into scenarist. once RA loads everything up in scenarist then go to 'Scenario Editor' and you'll see that the 'play all' pgc will be fine and that RA has created dummy pgcs for the rest of the episodes. Since you want these to contain the separate episodes, you'll have to delete the dummy pgcs in 'Scenario Editor' and recreate the structure of each pgc according to your ifo. for instance, if pgc 2 is supposed to be episode 1, then you'll have to drag the appropriate vobids for episode 1 to pgc 2 from the 'tracks' window. finding out the corresponding vobids can be a little tricky and time consuming but it's not terribly difficult. if your pgcs contain chapters then you'll have to know how to create chapters and such in scenario editor as well.

What EonBlue says is correct.

An other solution: delete the other pgcs (the dummies) compile your layout and use ifoupdate in adjusted cell mode.

I've seen several threads about this subject anyway, you'll find them if you do a search.

The way I've gone about doing discs like this is to demux the PGCs containing each episode. Then, from there after RA created the script and everything has been imported, I would create the big PGC using the tracks for each episode.

Yest there are multiple ways to do it, I don't know if there's a guide out yet, since the seem to be a lot of questions about it.

But basically you have to following situation: VTSset is made of a single vobid. You have one PGC with all episodes and multiple PGCS with the seperate episodes.

Basically there are three ways to do it:

1)only rip the PGC with all episodes together. Recreate the other PGCs based on the chapters/cells of this one
2)rip all episodes seperately and don't rip play all PGC. Recreate the play all PGC using the seperate episode PGCS
3)Rip the play all PGC and only recreate this one. Use ifoupdate in adjusted cell mode afterwards. (only possible if play all PGC contains all chapters/cells used in the seperate episode PGCS, which is usually the case)

And what about if there are lots of PGCs, with different sizes (not angles). I'm trying to backup a DVD (U2 The Best of 1990-2000). It has a "main movie", and 8 more PGC that are almost the size of the full movie. I can't get to then through the menus , but they're there. And of course, when i start doitfast4U, i end with some 40Gb of data.

I'm enclosing the beginning of the IFOfile (i've trimmed it to only the first 2 PGC, so as not to take lots of space; there are 9 PGCs)
