View Full Version : how do i make sure it's encoding in original 2 pass

I am using divx 5.05 but I still prefer using the original 2 pass. However, i have the feeling that it's still using the new nth pass method. This is because that when I set GKnot's settings for DivX and then I finish setting up my movie, and I move on to the encoding stage where I can set the number of passes, and I check the DivX setting it's back to the nth pass settings. I re-adjust it back to the original 2 pass, and i set the number of passes in gknot to 2 passes so that it doesn't over-write my encoded video after the second pass. Is there any way of checking if it has been encoded in the original 2 pass mode?

Thanx and sorry if this is confusing.

If you set original pass on encode window, then it'll be used.
If you press setting button again settings will be restored, but the pass will be changed back no Nth (newbie protection).

thanks for the reply, but is there any file or change in the registry that is different than the nth pass method?

have a look at the output dir for :

*firstpass.settings
*secondpass.settings

VBR Mode should be 2 for first pass (new), or 3 for Nth pass (new). If the values are differenm then you using your settings (if you set original pass)
