Ok, hi again :D

Now after having trouble with forced film, new pb.

I try to encode After Dark but seems the source is very special.

I read the article + members comments from my last post. I watched in the .d2v (with and without forced film) to see what kind of movie i have. Since the file was mostly a serie of 1230123 and so on, i assumed that i can use forced film. Result is a FILM 99% so this is ok i suppose.

Now, pb is that whatever i choose, the frame type constantly switch from progressive to interlaced at closely every frames! And this till the end of the preview! When i choosed to use forced film, DVD2Avi doesn't mention what frame type is the movie...

I loaded the d2v into GK and check for interlaced frame. I don't have nothing very clear to me...

I made some screenshot: the artifcat seems to be a resultant on interlacing but i'm very new on this subject. Till now i only get some progressive but this one seems like an hybrid..

Here is a sequence of 2x3 consecutive frames (download them on your HD: i don't know why but displayed in IE, man can see nothing!)

You'll see my 2 pbs: first one, this damn hard blocking with lines. Secondly, the big halo close to light sources (it's always like than during the whole movie: like a rainbow)

I tryied to see infos about deinterlacing but there are too many options that confusing me...

So if someone could help me with that cause i'm lost...

Those Pics look fine to me, I don't see any indications of interlacing. It's proably just some noise in the film, try cleaning it up with Convolution3d or some of the built in filters in Gknot.

Hi-

Yeah, Hiro2k's right. No sign of interlacing there. I think you're referring to that banding or blotchiness in the colors. I'm not sure of the source of those pictures, but if it's like that in the final .avi, then you might look to your desktop color quality as the culprit. That is, if it's set for 16 bit color, you might try 24 bit or 32 bit and see if it goes away.

I don't know cause it's even worste when i try to include in the avs any denoiser!
If i got this result after compressing, ok , i would have been sure it's just "pure" noise but i never see this with any other movies i encoded.
About the alternating of progressive/interlaced, is it normal? Doesn't it indicate anything? I mean i know this can alternating at the begining of the preview but it does this till the end of the preview so i thought this may be the cause.
What ring a bell to me is the noise pattern: generally it's square like or by zone but there, it 's just like some lines are around shapes like combing...

DVD2AVI sometimes reports false things. If your really worried about the interlacing, you can try to manualy IVTC your video with TMPEG. You'll see for sure if your DVD is Interlaced or Progressive.
