hi, everyone.

i'd like to present you my filter collection. it is not just a collection of codecs, the thing is that there's no codecs in this pack* - there is only directshow decoders (filters) of most wanted formats. maybe most of you (forum members) won't be interested, because everyone already have full versions of all codecs they need, but this collection was designed to burn it on a cds with an mpeg4 movies or distribute it some other way to people, who don't care about encoding or editing. the only goal of this pack is to make the smallest possible installer, that will support maximum variety of mpeg4 encodings.

it includes:
ffdshow-20030523
xvid 16.07.03
OggDS 0.9.9.5
CoreAAC 1.1.0.573
VSFilter 1.0.0.4
AC3 & DTS filters
MatroskaSplitter 1.0.1.6
RealMediaSplitter 1.0.0.5
CDXA Filter 1.0.0.0

-------------------------------
* - when it is possible, e.g. xvid.ax can't work w/o xvid.dll

dl: http://rocket.rbcmail.ru/rfc_1_6_2.exe

homepage: http://rocket.rbcmail.ru - history file is a little bit funny because this project is my first experience with NSIS and installers at all

download it, test it, do whatever you want with it an let me know what do you think about it.

I didn't download the package, but the whole things looks like an interesting idea to me.

However, if it's really meant to be the "smallest possible installer", I don't understand one thing: Why include the XviD filter, when ffdshow is capable of playing XviD on its own?

IIRC libavcodec decoding of ffdshow for xvid is buggy at the moment, so you have to set ffdshow to use xvid's own decoder for decoding.

edit: clarification (I think)

Thank you, The Link. That's right, XviD filter is a native decoder of the XviD content, so nothing can be better (yet).

version 1.6.0 (http://rocket.rbcmail.ru/rfc_1_6_0.exe) includes individual ds filters for Matroska, XCD, DTS and AC3, so these formats can be played in any player now.

version 1.6.1 (http://rocket.rbcmail.ru/rfc_1_6_1.exe) doesn't have media player classic anymore -> size reduction (2,2 megs now). xvid filter updated to 16.07.03. uninstalling of previous version on install works much better now. i don't even know what else can i improve :)

Ok... a long break, huh?
Too much news to list, look for it at my new homepage (http://rocket.rbcmail.ru), or right here (http://rocket.rbcmail.ru/history_en.html).
Direct download link is in the first post.
And why don't you post something. If you don't like it, say it (and say what exactly you don't like in this project), why just ignore? :(

I think the project is great :) Everything neatly packaged in one file.

Just that people don't say anything doesn't mean they don't like it or use it ;)

Have a nice day

Thank you very much for your countenance, olorin, but if people don't say anything how do I know they like it or use it?
