i believe the answer should be very obvious, but i can't either find an answer here or make the program do it.

Either you've got here some special technical term or you simply mean a chapter index. ;)

It would help if you could tell us what you exactly mean with that. :)

no, it's not about chapters.
from what i've read, "time map" allows you to move freely in the video with the slider in your software dvd player.
when i make a dvd with scenarist, the slider is just dead.
so the question remains the same.

and do you think chapter index will help?

This has more to do with ifoupdate I think. There are several threads about that.

@Crazyjoe: yes, a technical term for VTS_TMAPTI (http://www.mpucoder.com/DVD/ifo_vts.html#tmap)

@space ace: These should be created automatically if the title is one-sequential (one PGC, no branching or looping)

@ mpucoder

Thanks! I was a little "out of my mind". ;) Of course I know the function. On these hot days my brain doesn't work very well. :D

@ space ace

The time map only works, if there is only ONE PGC within a title. Check if you don't accidentaly put two or more PGCs in a title folder. :)
