PGCs are the same as titles?

What I read here (http://www.doom9.org/index.html?/dvd-structure.htm) (see "Inside a VOB") in Doom9's guide about DVD structure makes me think that:
- a disk contains one or more titlesets
- a titleset contains one or more titles
- a title contains one ore more PGCs
- a PGC contains one or more chapters/programs
- a chapter/program contains one or more cells
I'm a bit confused, I've always thought PGCs and titles were the same thing :confused:
Infact in DVDDecrypter's IFO mode I can see the different titlesets (VTS_0*) containing one or more PGCs, and when I play the DVD with PowerDVD I can jump to titles that seem to correspond to the PGCs I noticed in DVDDecrypter (and that makes me think I'm right :) )
But I recently created new IFOs with IFOEdit selecting the option "Create a PGC for each VOB ID", and I ended up with 2 PGCs in just one title :(
So the two PGCs don't play one after the other (as if they were different titles) but I can't jump to the second one in any other way than skipping to its first chapter (no possibility to select titles in PowerDVD because infact there's just one!).
And now I read this guide and I don't know what to believe in...
My question is: which is the difference between PGCs and titles?
Or did I miss anything with IFOEdit? (I know this is not the proper forum for such a question, but I think it's connected to DVD structure in general)

No, a PGC may contain an entire title, or just part of a title. That is up to the author. When the title is entirely in one PGC it is called a one-sequential PGC, and can display and seek by time.
2 reasons to use multiple PGCs - the movie has too many chapters or cells for one PGC, the movie branches.

PGCs in the title domain are one of two types, a title entry (classified by title number within the titleset) or a non-entry (extensions of title PGCs, and must be called by PGC number, not title number).

You should also know that every menu has a PGC.
PGCs in the video manager domain are one of two types, a menu entry (classified by menu type - title, root, subpicture, chapter, audio, angle) or a non-entry (sub menues or dummies, must be called by PGC number, not menu type)

Dummies are used to move from one titleset to another as that cannot be done directly.


About IfoEdit - if you select a new PGC for each VobID it will make a new title for each VobID. However, it does not create a title menu (or any other menu).

I looked at some IFOs and I think you mean that you can select only the PGCs that have "PGC entry:yes" in VMGM_PGCI_UT and in VTS_PGCITI, am I right?Infact in my new IFOs the second PGC has "no".
What if I wanted to make such a title menu to be able to select titles with the title key on the remote control without having a graphic menu on the disc?Is it possible?Can I make it manually with IFOEdit or do I have to use an authoring tool?Which one?

I didn't know that (second PGC is non-entry). You might want to try the other option, to make a chapter for each new cell. That way, even without a chapter menu, you can select chapters on most players, and skip back and forth between chapters on all players.

The other thread is too bogged down in detail for me to get into. While I can still answer general questions, time, and my mind being on other things, prevents me from getting into that much detail.

I already create a chapter for each cell, I asked about PGCs and titles in case I wanted to create a DVD with episodes, each one with more than one chapter, not being forced to skip through chapters to get to the episodes (and of course I'd like each ep to start with chapter one), but if there isn't a way to do so, also the solution with chapters can go...
