I've search the forums for a couple of days and not found and answer, so here's my query.

I have a set of Lost in Space Columbia House vhs that I would like to archive to DVD. I also have a Best Buy credit for $200 that I would like to use. Can anyone tell me if the Pinnacle MovieBox, or the Pinnacle Deluxe Studio 8 card will have problems with macrovision? I'd like to get the Canopus ADVC-100, but Best Buy doesn't carry it. If I need to buy something to remove the Macrovision, I will probably just go for the Canopus and be done with it. Of course that's if the Lost in Space set is Macrovision protected. I'm not even sure it is, I just assumed so.

The MovieBox is really new. There is not much in the way of reviews yet, which is why I just got the canopus ADVC-100. I can tell you that if the MovieBox is anything like the ADVC-100, you may need a TBC. The quality on the ADVC-100 seems to be great so far, but it hiccups if it hits bad points in the tape (even tapes that appear to be fine). Bad part is, ADVC-100 + decent TBC = $600. Arguably, you could get very similar quality from a $100 capture card.
