Hi,

Could someone shed some light on this topic?

I would like to load my AVI's directly into DVDMaestro. I don't know if this is possible. DVD maestro does recognizes avi as supported media. But when I try to load it gives a unsupported media error. I also tried it with an AVI which does not contain audio.

Am I doing wrong?

No, this is not possible - Maestro does not encode your aVI files like lower-end applications (such as DVDit! or Ulead DVD Workshop) do.

You will need to encode your AVIs to elementary (i.e. NOT multiplexed) MPEG streams before you can import them into Maestro. To do this, you can use a standalone encoder, such as TMPGEnc, Cinemacraft, Canopus ProCoder, or MainConcept. Alternatively, you can encode your AVIs from the timeline of a Video Editing program such as Adobe Premiere/Vegas Video/Ulead Video Studio etc. All of these (and many others) will offer the option of encoding to MPEG, but please remember you need to output seperate audio and video streams or Maestro will still refuse to use them.

Good luck! :)
