Hello,

I have about 15 hours of VHS home video's which I like to copy to my computer (my graphics NVIDEA graphics card has a VIDEO IN option).

What are the best program(s) I need to use to copy all the data to my computer, compress the data, and copy to my CD? Or should I acquire a DVD?

What programs you recommend?

What format should I use (avi, mpeg-2, etc.)

What to use to the video editing?

What to use to develop some menu's and sound when I burn the CD with autostart?

Thank you for your advise...

Please, please do some searches and read some guides on http://www.doom9.org . You have really asked far too many questions to be answered in one thread, and it's probably more info than you want all at once anyways. Also, forum rules prohibit asking what's best - only you can decide what's best for you.

Edit: based on a quick search...welcome back to the forum...although it doesn't look like you learned much in almost two years. Please search.

If it must be playable on a dvd, I would go for svcd. Otherwise DivX/XviD:
