Hi,

I recently got a Visionplus DTV-t card and I have been able to capture some transport streams to hard disk.

Is there a program (freeware/sharware) that will allow me to play these transport streams back while displaying the subtitles / Closed captions contained in the stream ?

Thanks

Fletch

How did you capture the TS ??
Do you write your own capture routine ???
Do you capture the entyre TS , or only A/V ?
I'm working on TS and I'd like to know your test.

I just use the capture software TwinHan utility that came with my card - It captures the entire transport stream but unless I can select which streams to view, it does not have much of a use for me. I mainly want to be able to play back the closed captions with the video stream but I cannot find any software that will do this. Elecard Mpeg player allows me to select the audio / video streams but does not have options for teletex/closed captions.

Can you send me 1.5Mb of your stream, I'll be able to see if you really download a complete TS stream that include video, audio, teletext etc. then i'll try to watch it with my programs.

If I success then I'll tell you what to do.

Well, it's not that what you asked for...but perhaps the software "ds.jar" helps you. Normally I just demux video and audio with it. But demuxing the teletext/subtitles should also be possible. (I never used that function, so I can not tell if it really works.)

You could then perhaps play the video and display the subtitles on top of it with a plugin that reads the subtitle file, or something like that..? (Well, I don't know your card, so this is a bit vague :-)

Thanks for your reply, I was looking for the DS.JAR program but I see its no longer available  I agree, it would be interesting to see what could be achieved with it

I've got the "ds.jar" and i'll mail to you if you want.
For the file, let me know, I can watch it today or mthe next week, but 1.5Mb is just what I need to see if your card capture the teletext pid, together with A/V, PAT, PMT etc.

So the first problem is to see if the MPEG2 TS that you got is containing Teletext pid, the second is to get that read by the software that display A/V.

Ok i'll see the file (5 mb ) and I'll find all the stream of TS as you tell me.
Your subtitle is a teletext subtitle right ?
Now I'm trying to extract that data.
You just can try to use VLC (www.videolan.org) to see if you can catch the subtitles.
I think you need to convert the Mpeg2ts into something else and play it with the subtiles that I might can extract fron teletext.
Let me see !

What kind of dvb cad do yotu have ?
Can you capture for me some TS with MHP data?

I've extracted the data subititles but it is in the close caption format, and now i don't have the specific to understand it.
Also I can't find some players that understand it or convert it.
Have you only close caption subtitles ?
If I can translate close caption, which format is readable with mpeg2 ?

This is the card I have -

http://www.digitalnow.com.au/DVB-T%20Specs.htm - Its not mentioned in the specs but the DVB-t PCI card Supports 576p, 1080i* Supports digital audio output through Sound Card as well as direct audio/video recording to HDD

Not sure about your other questions - I am happy to capture anything you may need but I don't know what MHP data is ! ;) - Tell me how I can capture it for you and I will.

Videolan certainly plays the TS file but it does not decode the closed captions
