WHEN USING GORDIAN KNOT I ALLWAYS GET AN ERROR MESAGE THAT THERE IS NOT ENOUGH HARDDRIVE SPACE TO COMPLEATE THE TAST.

I AM USING WINXP HOME, HD IS 120GIG, PARTIONED OFF IN THREE PARTIONS.

DULE BOOT WIN98SE AND WINXP. THE FIRST PARTION IS FORMATTED FAT32 (18GIG), THE OTHER TWO ARE NTFS 50GIG.

I USE ONE 50 GIG PARTION TO DO ALL MY RIPING AND ALL OF WHAT YOU NEED FOR GORIAN KNOT, THAT IS ALL THAT IS ON THAT PARTION SO THERE IS MORE THAN ENOUGH ROOM.

Whoa buddy, turn off the caps lock (very annoying, and good ettiquette). You say "THERE IS MORE THAN ENOUGH ROOM". Have you double-checked that there is enough room instead of assuming, and that you're putting all the files on the correct partition (could be an honest mistake)? The only reason I see for getting this error is that you're trying to put the files somewhere where there really isn't enough room to store them; remember, a set of VOBs from a DVD can take upwards of 8-9GB, and the video and audio files after that can take up a lot of room as well. If you're doing operations on the 18GB partition and have more than one movie on there, that could explain the problem. Good luck figuring it out.

I assume you're getting this error message in R4R, rather than in Gknot? If the latter, the failure would occur during encoding, which would be either in VdubMod (DivX 5, XviD) or Nandub (DivX 3).

I'm not doing anything on the 18gig partition. I'm doing everything on an empty 50-gig partition.

I open G-knot tell it to rip to G: drive (50gig ntfs (witch is empty before I rip). then make project then auto crop then save and encode.

There are about 30 gigs of space left after ripping.

The error comes right before Virdub starts.

I let G-knot do all the audio encoding. vbr mp3 128.

I have made lots of movies this way before without a problem

Not on the same computer.

As requested above, and below, please copy your <movie>_gknot.log file into this thread.

Without it, we'll all be continuing to conjecture as to the source of your problem.

Thank you.

I recall having a similar problem after installing Win2k. The thrashcan size was for some reason set to 100%! Empty the thrashcan, set it to 0% and turn on the option to delete files directly.

I know that this is probably no help but when i used to run windows 98 and windows ME, there would be times when windows would tell me that my hard drive was full, when in fact it was almost practically empty. I never figured out what the problem was because when i upgraded to XP it never happened. :D
