This is quoted from jdobbs monster ifoupdate thread, this mini-guide by jdobbs himself:

Here is what I think would make the perfect rip in any case:
1. You break it out VOBID (but not by individual PGC).
2. Reencode all the VOBIDs.
3. Put it back together in Scenarist.
4. Update using IFOUpdate and Adjusted Mode.Questions:
1) I assume I make one big PGC in Scenarist. Do I just put the vobid's in ascending order? I'm wondering how ifoupdate expects to find them.
2) Do I need to import chapter points via the import/export technique for every vobid/track? Can I have more detail on the steps? I know about Scenchap and the VOBID-ALL-CHAP.TXT text file created by ifoupdate. Do I just copy/paste the numbers into Scenchap for each vobid/track?

I managed to get through this with the extras for About Schmidt which had duplicate vobid's and some still pictures.

It seems you do put the vobids in numerical order in a single PGC.

Another question: will this technique work for multi-angle titles like Die Another Day? What about subtitles when doing multi-angle?

Multi angle movies demand that both angles have the same duration and gop structure. Since DaD doesn't have its 2nd angle running through the entire movie this is something that can't be used. Instead u have to rip by vob-id and treat each one that has a 2nd angle differently of the others. I believe that there r 95 vobids in total. A lot of work if u ask me for a movie.

I ll keep watching it from the original and decide to deal with it when and if can find a couple of weeks.

DIe an other day is a pretty complex movie as you can read in this thread: http://forum.doom9.org/showthread.php?s=&threadid=53429&highlight=reauthoring+die

It can be done but is a lot of work.

I cannot recommend starting with this title if you do not have experience with multiangle at all.

Almost all multi-angle movies I've seen so far (expect die an other day) have a structure like this

[Ch 01] [Pg 01] [Cell 01] [V/C Id: 4/ 1] : time:
[Ch 02] [Pg 02] [Cell 02] [V/C Id: 4/ 2] : time:
[Ch 03] [Pg 03] [Cell 03] [V/C Id: 4/ 3] : time:
[Ch 04] [Pg 04] [Cell 04] [V/C Id: 4/ 4] : time:
[Cell 05] [V/C Id: 5/ 1] (Angle 1): time:
[Cell 06] [V/C Id: 6/ 1] (Angle 2): time:

As you can see from this example angle 1 and angle 2 have a different vobid. What you should do to recreate a title like this is demux by vobid, encode it (angles with restrict auto I frame insertion and close all gops ofcourse). When creating your tracks in scenarist/maestro you create the non angled vobids as usual. In the case of the angled vobid (n#6) you create a track with vobid5 and add vobid6 to this track as a second angle.
If you have a seamless angled title (again all titles I have seen so far, except die an other day are like this) you just add the audio and subtitles from vobid5 to the track. Now both angle 1 and 2 will use this. The other option is non seamless angles for this read the linked thread.

When putting it all back together you just drag all you track in the correct order to the corresponding pgcs. If you drag the track with the two angles there will be automatically 2 vobids created.

Hope it a (little bit ) clear. :sly:
