View Full Version : The End of Title "Empty Chapter"

This short little chapter usually comes at the end of extras and seems to be used as a means of skipping to the end. A recent backup of mine (Back to the Future) had a layout roughly like this for a set of Michael J. Fox interviews:

VTS_02:

PGC_01: uses VobID 1,8
Cell01 - 1st interview
Cell02 - 1 sec of nothing
PGC_02: uses VobID 2,8
Cell01 - 2nd interview
Cell02 - 1 sec of nothing
PGC_03: uses VobID 3,8
Cell01 - 3rd interview
Cell02 - 1 sec of nothing
PGC_04: uses VobID 4,8
Cell01 - 4th interview
Cell02 - 1 sec of nothing
PGC_05: uses VobID 5,8
Cell01 - 5th interview
Cell02 - 1 sec of nothing
PGC_06: uses VobID 6,8
Cell01 - 6th interview
Cell02 - 1 sec of nothing
PGC_07: uses VobID 7,8
Cell01 - 7th interview
Cell02 - 1 sec of nothing

Like I said, that's the rough layout but you probably get the drift. Anyway, these interviews are placed during the running of the movie in a "button over video" style.

When using the big 3 and extracting by PGC, these little "empty chapters" seem to be recreated in a particular way. All PGCs have the last second of the video sliced off to make way for the "empty chapter". The "empty chapter" is then created from these last second scenes for PGC_01 and PGC_07. This seems to be fine as it looks fairly seemless in final production. Unfortunately, PGC_02 through PGC_06 seems to be using the last second from PGC_07 instead of their own ending scenes.

Normally, it doesn't matter too much to me but since these extras are designed to work in the middle of the movie, the one second of crap with PGC_02 through PGC_06 is extremely noticable and annoying.

What is usually the best way to remedy this type of situation?

Trilight's guide suggests bringing in your own blank file at the end of the video so that nothing is chopped off. Could I use this method while still using ReAuthorist to load everything? Or will I always end up with the last second chopped off?

How do you guys handle it?
