This may be off topic, but I seem to have a problem with my software loading, for my new video capture card.
All drivers are functioning properly, there are no conflicts.
When executing the program for the first time, it asks for the country setting, i.e. NTSC or PAL. Once that procedure is done, then it goes into the GUI. Have never been past that first step as nothing would happen.
With some tweaking in WinXP Pro's Administrative Tools Services, I was finally able to get the software to run, but alas, it froze XP, and had to do a reset(warm re-boot). Since then, back to square one.
Still attempting to get help from the manufacturer, but had no luck, yet.
I know it has to do with XP Pro's Services, but ain't quite figured it out yet. Any of you diehard's got any solutions?

Hi,

please tell us, which software you are using. Maybe PowerVCR2 ? I have heard of such a problem, maybe uninstalling the whole software, cleaning the registry and installing the software again, will help.

Or have a look at other capture programs like VirtualVCR (WDM) or VirtualDub.

@BaronVlad

Using WinDVR and MpegTV Station.
Uninstalled and reinstalled several times. Even downloaded updated drivers and MpegTV software, still the same.

I got it to run once, but when I accidently moved an options window covering the interface, thats when it hung the system.
Still think it has something to do with a setting in Administrative Tools/Services.

BTW, it is a Conexant card made by Kworld. MoreTV looks like a good one, but is there an English version? Mine also has the Philips FM-Tuner.( The included software seems to be very good.)

I have the same capture card and I use also OS xp pro .Try to change the drivers, use tweaked WDM878 drivers from iulab,maybe it'll work for you(clean installation!!!).

@midelic
Installed the tweaked drivers using a clean install. Now when I start the program I get a "H/W failure" error. Kworld's site referes to his error, but using a USB device. Back to square one again!!!

@BaronVlad
Read the FAQ and Guide, was helpful. Should have read it first befor posting. But, it still has not helped me with my problem, even after installing the tweaked drivers. In fact, it would not install the Phillips tuner driver, when selected in the installation. I read all the information at the soundforge site and it listed my card as being compatable.

I dunno:confused:
