The 'Cyberlink Audio Effect' filter from PowerDVD 5 (and perhaps older versions, or the InterVideo equivalent) does Dolby Pro Logic II decoding.

And can I use it for normal decoding?

@ChristianHJW

MatrixFilter can mix stereo channel on the surround channels but don't decode Dolby Surround.

@ sirber
What do you mean normal decoding?! you open any mpeg or avi in PowerDVD and check the Dolby Pro Logic 2 thing and it will apply, wether you have stereo, dolby surround, or dolby surround2 source.

Hmmm... are you trying to do something like the 'Stereo to 5-Channel Surround' thread but with official Dolby Pro Logic (II) decoding? Maybe you could use GraphEdit and write the filter's 5.1 output to a WAV file (I haven't tried this).

Or do you mean on playback? In which case you do what Awatef said, or plug the filter into your filter graph if PowerDVD doesn't play that file format.

"MatrixFilter can mix stereo channel on the surround channels but don't decode Dolby Surround."

That's not exactly true. Stuff encoded in surround will upmix much better with matrixmixer than stuff not encoded in surround will. It's a
legitimate passive upmixer for stereo or dolby surround material. It's just not a dolby pro-logicII upmixer (or probably even prologic I... I believe in the 80's before prologic I there was actually a plane old "dolby surround" right?) and may or may not upmix identically to any particular dolby decoder. This doesn't mean it wont decode dolby though, it just wont decode it as well, like no separation between rear channels.

which directshow filter can decode mpeg layer3 and is able to sent it to the intervideo audio processor? the intervideo decoder doesn't work. tried it in graphedit and zoomplayer. with the normal mp3 decoder it's the same.

Try the cyberlink one. It just worked for me. MAD Mp3 decoder-->cyberlink-->wav dest-->file writer = 6channel 16bit wav.

I think the problem is actually an oddity in the InterVideo Audio Processor Fx filter. I've had trouble trying to get it to work in a playback graph, probably because it wasn't meant to be used outside of WinDVD ;) Anyway, it seems to always output 2 channels even when the actual data is 5.1 channel, (see Guide: 2- to 5-channel upmix using Dolby Pro Logic II (http://forum.doom9.org/showthread.php?s=&threadid=57736)).

The CyberLink filter may also have an oddity where it only does DPL1 upmixing (surround channels are the same) even though it says DPL2.
