Is there a tool that will easily and automatically transcode VCD files to DVD compliant MPEG1 files? All that needs changing is the audio, from 44.1KHz to 48KHz.
But doing this manually for the 100+ VCD files I need to burn to DVD would take ages (demux-reencode-remux, pray for sync)
TIA!

I made some without doing the audio - works just fine on my player!

Yeah, but my authoring sw (SpruceUp) doesn't like the VCD files. What are you using?

It seems that u don't have a standard player, rather an enhanced one. U have to transcode the audio to 48khz if u want it to be acceptable in a dvd project.
Unless you r suggesting a dvd-r media full of vcd material, where u dont have to do any conversion just a short vcd menu to select the movie u want.
Yes its a brand new cheap type (wont keep it long because of poor sound)
Well I started with IFOEDIT which does this just fine if you demux first. Open ifoedit and in the meune open DVD Author/New DVD and point to your video/audio and save destination - done.
After that I got dissapointed with such a small film on such a big DVD and went on to put more than one on a DVD with a menu made in Sonics MyDVD - guide in thisthread (http://forum.doom9.org/showthread.php?s=&threadid=56225)
I've even put DVDs compressed with DVDshrink and VCDs on one DVD with a menue this way - as I say - no problem on my player but do test with a RW first as I'm quite new to all this - having a ball but certainly no expert so if you want 100% standard stuff....
