We got a bunch of DVDs authored by a third party person who was able to do this for cheap.

Cheap was the only good thing about this purchase. We can't play this DVD back on our Toshiba SD2700 DVD player. It won't play back on my mother's laptop, but it does play back on mine.

The problem is that we're in charge of distributing these DVDs for a school (most of them have gone out already). Thankfully, a majority of people haven't had a problem with it.

My question is, is there anyway I can find out why it won't play back on our DVD player? The drive on my laptop is just a DVD/CDRW drive as is my mother's drive.

I've long past trying to fix the problem, but I'd like to give these people an explaination if they have a problem.

Thanks in advance

Compatibility Issues:

1) Bad media quality - some cheap medias burn poorly and as a result, the DVD player have to work extra hard to read the data from the DVD. This results in freezing and stuttering playback.

2) Incompatible DVD-Video authoring/burning tools - some DVD-Video authoring/burning tools (ex. older version of Nero) produce non-standard DVD video files that some DVD players choke on.

3) Incompatible DVD players - some DVD players just can't play DVDR/RW. Click here (http://www.dvdrhelp.com/dvdplayers) to see if your DVD player supports playback of DVDR/RW disc.
