hi
first, sorry for my bad english
and now my problem (i hope iīm in the right forum)
i bought a sony dvp ns-430 for playing dvdīs and svcds
but now i have 2 problems..
1. when i insert a svcd, the picture "jumps", (like a monitor when itīs changing resolution) and then there appear red, blue and green stripes in the upper section of the picture..
2. i have a 3 cd svcd version of "any given sunday", nice quality, no red, blue and green stripes BUT the movie istnīt smooth (like a pc, when itīs not powerfull enough), but on my pc, the movie runs perfectly.. i think the bitrate is too high, but iīm not sure..
please help me, thank you and sorry for my english again.

svcd has to meet some specifications so it can play perfectly (give or take) on a dvd player
http://www.dvdrhelp.com/svcd
if your svcd meets the specifications, then i have know idea what's causing this.
i guess my grammer must be bad, cause i didn't notice nothing wrong with your english except for some mispell words.

It may be, that you have a SVCD with a TV-Standard, that is incompatible with your TV.
If you live in NTSC-Country, it may be that you can't playback PAL properly and vice versa.

yes that is it, i searched for infos about the movies which show this problem and found out that they have 29.97 fps..
normally my movies have 25fps...is there a way to solve this problem or do i need a codefree player?
the other problem was a false setting in dvd2svcd which i solved

A codefree-player won't help.
It is the vertical frequenzy of 60Hz, which your TV can't handle (your DVD-Playa plays it correct)
Try another TV (if available).
Or try to convert your SVCDs from NTSC to PAL.
this can be done by an IVTC and a PAL-Speedup
or a conversion by Fieldblending.

are you sure, the tv is the problem?
when i play the same svcd with tv-out, there is no problem... but the frequenzy must be the same, or isnīt it?
iīve got no second tv, so i canīt test it on another :(

This is not comparable to your DVD-Player.
The DVD-Player makes a NTSC or PAL60 (60Hz) Signal for NTSC-Discs and a PAL (50Hz) Signal for PAL-Discs.
But your TV-Out is permanently PAL, so a Playback of your NTSC-SVCD will work, but the motion will be very jerky because of the false signal-timings!
Try to apply NTSC to your TV-Out and look what happens! I assure, that your TV isn't able to handel 60Hz!

hm ok i think i now understand..
i wondered why the same disk played perfectly on a friendīs tv but now iīve heard that his tv is a 100hz tv, so i think ntsc with 60hz is no problem for that tv..read my tv manual and itīs a 50hz tv.. :(
thanks for your help
